I lovePaloma Faith for her artistic flair in fashion, photography and of course the music. She's got such an original and iconic look, with powerhouse vocals to blow out your ears! The crooning queen talks about her influences, and you can definitely see them from just one look.
"I'm inspired by the queens of tragedy – Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf and Judy Garland. Then throw a bit of Nick Cave, Etta James and PJ Harvey into the mix. Add all my influences from avant garde cinema and you start to come close. My visual style is fancy dress as I never grew out of dressing up boxes! My early performances were David Lynch meets William Blake at the circus. Welcome to my world…." – Paloma Faith
Paloma really hasn't gained recognition in the U.S. as much as she deserves. I haven't seen someone perform + work the camera like she owns it in awhile. I've got a free download of the title track from Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful, which I highly recommend you check out!
I'm very excited to present you with this dark synth-pop teaser clip from newcomer from Auckland…Zowie! The track is called Love Demolition. A modern day take on Siouxsie mixed with elements reminiscent of The Knife. It totally stands on it's own + I look forward to seeing more from this girl.
What a way to start a career in music! She's already opened for Peaches and The Kills. Remixes are coming soon…get excited + bang those drums! - Matt
More fun tracks from the inbox! One of my favorite upcoming bands is Human Life, who have only just given us a taste of what's to come. Their first release, In It Together got a lot of attention and for good reason! Check out the mixes of that track here.
They've just released Italo Crimewave as a free download to the masses! Totally a trip back to 80's funk but with a modern twist. I love this new era of music, especially being a huge Giorgio Moroder + contemporaries fan. This sound will never get stale. I'm soaked in synth-y goodness! - Matt

Their new single Wherever We Are drops on the 1st of November.- Matt
One of my favorite + pretty much underrated album of late is Black Light by Groove Armada. Paper Romance,I Wont Kneel and Cards to Your Heart get repeated play on my iPod + everywhere else I listen to music! Love the artwork from this album, all singles have had awesome pack shots!
The duo are releasing the Will Young fronted single History next and here is the Grum remix! He never fails to impress! Found this mix over at 514Blog based out of Montreal! Check 'em out! - Matt

Whip out your drinks + head to the beach with newcomer from Minnestoa, Waxx Maxx and their track Celine + Julie Go Boating. A little French, a little English, a whole lotta electro-chic! - Matt
Camille and I just got off the phone with Grum, who we chatted with for a special interview feature on Hard Candy. As he spoke about his influences and growing success we immediately noted his fine tuned focus on the craft. He's a very important emerging talent to pay attention to, after remixing Lady Gaga, Goldfrapp, Passion Pit and releasing his own solo album Heartbeats to critical acclaim.
The Scotland based DJ/producer loves soft rock, 80's music and of course dance/electronic jams. Check out his official summer mixtape + the video for single Can't Shake This Feeling below. U.S. fans can catch him on tour this July! - Matt
